He holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Uberlândia (1986), a master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1991) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the State University of Campinas (1999). He is currently a professor at the Federal University of Uberlândia. He has experience in the area of Chemistry, with an emphasis on Chemical Thermodynamics, working mainly on the following topics: adsorption in liquid and gaseous phases, supercritical fluids, equation of state, mixing rules, use of biomass to remove pollutants from effluents, chemical equilibrium.
