She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Uberlândia (1987), a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1990), and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science from Wayne State University (1997), Michigan, United States. In 2007, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry in Madrid – Cantoblanco, under the supervision of Dr. José Luiz Garcia Fierro, focusing on hydrogen production via the catalytic decomposition of methane. She is currently a Full Professor at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the Federal University of Uberlândia. She has experience in the fields of Chemical Kinetics and Catalysis, working mainly on the following topics: hydrocarbon reforming for hydrogen production, CO₂ capture, hydrodeoxygenation reactions for bio-oil upgrading, glycerol valorization reactions, and catalysts based on palladium, platinum, nickel, ceria, and perovskites. In the field of kinetics, she works on limestone decomposition and the hydration reaction of calcium oxide for lime milk production and calcium carbonate precipitation. She is also currently involved in research on the reuse of waste from the fertilizer industry. More recently, she has been working on the extraction of bioactive compounds and oils using supercritical CO₂.
