She holds a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Campinas (2001), as well as a master's (2003) and Ph.D. (2007) in Chemical Engineering from the same institution. Her graduate research was conducted in collaboration with the Viral Immunology Laboratory at the Butantan Institute and the University of Bielefeld (Universität Bielefeld Technische Fakultät AG Zellkulturtechnik) in Germany. She has experience in Chemical Engineering with an emphasis on Biotechnology, working primarily on the following topics: (1) biofuel production via biological routes (photo-fermentation and dark fermentation); (2) application of microalgae in wastewater treatment; and (3) evaluation of the optical properties of milk as a method for detecting adulteration. She is currently an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU).
